WARNING My name is Major David Campos, US Army. My son who is a college student and works for AutoZone and would frequently bring delivery orders to Kevin’s Automotive. And as a result, my son developed a relationship with the shop. So when my son had issues with his 2009 Subaru for repairs due to overheating he brought it to Kevin’s Automotive. After almost $4000 worth of work and several months later my son got his car back. In Feb, a few weeks later after, my son’s has a separate issue. So again, in trust and confidence, my son takes it back to Kevin’s Automotive. So another $2000 work of work later he gets his car back and within 3 days, his engine starts having issues and the car is no longer drivable. So almost $6k of work, and other apparent issues that these mechanics could have diagnosed, and repaired, the car is worse now than what it was before. His justification was the issues the car had were not what they repaired. As a reminder, as a college kid who also works 30 hours a week relies on his car. During the time he didn’t have his car, he had to ride the bus and catch rides with friends to get to school and work. So as his father, I helped with the repairs so I called on behalf of my son and left a voicemail stating that this is not how business should be run and as a mechanic, father, and a Subaru owner, he should honor his work and “make it right!” The owner then contacted AutoZone and prohibited my son from entering his business. Wow, not only is the car not fixed and has more issues, he now had the audacity to try and impact his job. Parents, Military Service Members, friends. I encourage you to reconsider taking your business to this mechanic. Serving in the military, my job is to serve my country and the people that live here. In my 25 years of service, having lived in over 10 cities in the U.S., and driven more than 20 cars in my life, and have had experience with mechanics, Kevin’s Automotive has been the worst (by far) that I’ve ever experienced. Not because he hasn’t tried to make it right but because he has now attacked the livelihood of my son’s wellbeing as a college student and employee. I truly hope Mr. Lowman changes his disposition because what he is doing is “low-man!”
"Major Campos, while you lead with your rank, your conduct here is a poor reflection of the professional standards expected of a commissioned officer. Mocking a man's last name is not only childish, but also a desperate attempt to deflect from the documented mechanical negligence of your son. Let’s look at the facts your 'Subaru owner' expertise conveniently ignored: Documented Abuse: On his first visit (RO #66818), your son’s car arrived with no oil touching the dipstick and a water pump he admitted to knowingly leaking for months. No engine, especially a performance WRX, survives that level of starvation and heat without permanent internal damage. Performance Tuning: Your son also disclosed that he uses a performance tuner on this vehicle. Modifying factory parameters on a 17-year-old engine that has already been run without oil is a recipe for the exact 'rod knock' he is now experiencing. Unrelated Repairs: The $2,000 you mention from February (RO #67084) was to repair a collapsed suspension and a torn wiring harness caused by a ball joint failure. This happened over time and the signs of it was ignored. This has zero correlation to an internal engine noise. Professional Boundaries: Your son is a legal adult and an employee of an auto parts provider. I am under no obligation to discuss his private repair records with you, especially when you lead the conversation with threats and schoolyard insults. [cite: 2026-01-14, 2026-01-13] We fixed the head gaskets your son blew, and we fixed the suspension he broke. We will not, however, pay for the engine he killed through months of neglect. We have saved your threatening voicemail and will be providing it, along with the witness testimony from the customer in our lobby, to the Arapahoe County Sheriff and the Credit Card Company to contest your attempt at 'Theft of Services.' I suggest you teach your son to take accountability for his own vehicle maintenance instead of attacking a small business for his poor decisions." Kevin Lowman Owner
